Hydrodemolition
Hydrodemolition is the term used for the cutting and removal technique of concrete from built surfaces using a high pressure waterblasting.
It is a specialized field in the area of waterblasting. It is carried out by using high pressure waterblasting machines, while in large productions Robot can also be used.
Hydrodemolition is now recognized by the Civil Engineers to be the safest, most efficient and vibrations-free method for the removal of concrete.
The technical advantages of this method are numerous. There is:
- no micro-cracks at the structure
- no damage to the reinforcing steel. Moreover, the reinforcing steel is cleaned by water jetting and a proper surface is created so that new concrete can bond to the existing one.
- no relaxation of the structure.
